Faircopy privacy policy

Effective

This is the privacy policy for Faircopy, the iPhone app made by Plainkeel, an independent studio operated by Adam Grimard. The current version is always at plainkeel.com/faircopy/privacy.

In short

Documents, camera, and files

Faircopy processes documents on your iPhone. Your documents are not uploaded to Plainkeel. Plainkeel does not receive copies of them.

When you scan a paper document, Faircopy may ask to use the camera. The camera is used to capture pages for a PDF. Text recognition that makes a scan searchable runs on the device. The captured pages and any recognized text stay in the document on your iPhone. They are not sent to Plainkeel.

When you open a PDF or save one, Faircopy may ask for access to files, for example through the Files app. That access is used to read the file you chose and to write the PDF you save.

The camera and file access are not used for advertising, analytics, or an account.

Purchases

Faircopy has a free tier. You can use it without an account and without paying. Faircopy Pro is optional. It is an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.

In-app purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, a subscription management service. Apple processes the payment. Plainkeel does not receive your payment card number or your Apple ID password.

RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase or receipt information to validate subscriptions. That ID is not your name, your email address, or your Apple ID. A lifetime purchase is also completed through Apple, using a receipt of the same kind.

Faircopy contacts Apple and RevenueCat in order to validate a purchase. Your documents are not part of that.

Ads, analytics, and tracking

Faircopy does not show ads. It does not include third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. RevenueCat is used only to validate purchases, as described above. It is not used for advertising or analytics.

Crash data

If you have opted in to share crash data with app developers, Apple may share anonymized crash data with Plainkeel. If you have not opted in, Apple does not share that crash data with Plainkeel. Plainkeel uses crash data it receives to diagnose crashes.

Selling data

Plainkeel does not sell your data.

Children

Faircopy is not directed at children under 13. Plainkeel does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has emailed personal information to Plainkeel, write to [email protected] and ask for that email to be deleted.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of the page will change with it.
